A tradition of quality

JAMLA has a rich history dating back to the Spanish era when Kapitan Alfonso Panopio made his best tasting chocolate known as ‘tablea’. Visitors frequented his house in Bauan Batangas to savor the goodness of Spanish-style chocolate or ‘tsokolate eh’. This tradition of welcoming visitors into their homes and serving the best chocolate is still at the heart of the company.

In 1949, grandson Modesto with wife Emilia established Mely’s Pure Chocolate - pioneering and supplying Ka-Alfonso’s hot chocolate to supermarkets, hotels, and restaurants of the 1960s.

In 1997, the company was incorporated into JAMLA Corporation.

Up to this day, Alfonso’s Hot Chocolate is at the core of our company. Our tradition of quality is now perfected and evolved into instant drinks, chocolate champorado, and baking supplies.
